It is very frustrating that the performance of the mobile network you are currently using is. To change your mobile network without changing your mobile number, we know there is a solution called mobile number portability (MNP). In this post, I am sharing the exact step-by-step guide to port to Jio from any other network you are currently using.
This is not promotional, and if you know that the Jio network has better coverage, a better internet speed in your location, and you have finally decided to port to Jio, this guide will help you.
How to port your mobile number to Jio?
Raise the porting request
As per government rules (TRAI), you must raise the porting request by sending an SMS from your current service provider.
How to do that?
SMS ‘Port'<10-digit mobile number> to 1900 from the number you want to port.
You’ll get a unique porting code with an expiry date. You can use this code until that date to port the SIM. If this expiry date is reached, you need to resend the porting request to receive a new code.
Apply for the new Jio SIM with the same number
You can do this in two different ways. In the first method, get the SIM by visiting the nearest mobile shop or the nearest shop along with your identity details.
Get a Jio SIM to your home directly.
When you have any issue visiting the shop, there are home delivery services you can use. The Jio officials will get in touch with you at your home along with the new SIM.
So, how to get the SIM home delivery?

Scan the QR code available on the page with your current mobile phone.
In the next step, they will ask you for the basic details like name, address, Aadhaar number, and mobile number.
You’ll get OTP to the number.
The next step is the quick verification.
You don’t need to go for quick verification procedures. Just turn on the camera in the next step, capture your photo, and take a 3-second live video to complete the verification procedures.
Note:- It should be noted that, while taking the photo, make sure that the background is a clear and blank space. It is better to take the photo in front of a plain wall.
Choose your plan and pay online
You must have the initial Jio plan to get started using the service. In the next step, choose the plan you want and pay online to activate the plan in your Jio SIM card.
That’s about the online procedures. The JIO assistant will come to your home. Be ready with the verification documents when they come. Your Aadhaar card is enough for verification.
Book a Home visit
You can choose your convenient time to visit the Jio assistants and get your SIM card. This is a great service since you may not be at home every time. So, when you book the visit time, you can wait for them at that specific time frame.
